Today we made Flubber in class. The children were thrilled to see how glue, water, and borax powder (washing powder) could make a goopy fun thing to play with. The recipe is below if you are interested in making it at home with your child.
Recipe for Flubber:
Mix 1:
3/4 cup warm water
1 cup Elmer's glue (2 4 oz. bottles of glue)
food coloring

Mix 2:
1/2 cup warm water
2 tsp. borax powder

Mix both mixtures well. Then pour mix 1 into mix 2. No need to stir the two just reach in and pour out a handful of flubber. There will be some water left over in the bowl, just drain it off.
Please make sure your child does not eat this. It is not edible. Also use it only on a table as it does get stuck in carpet and floor.
